Don’t trust abstract statements. Including this one.

There’s a famous Woody Allen joke that goes: “Not only is there no God, but try finding a plumber on Sunday”.

Often, stubborn reality gets in the way of our thoughts and disrupts them in ways that are not necessarily very imaginative. But acting “in reality” is the only thing that truly makes us feel alive.

The thing is: human discourse is experience, not a “lecture.” Abstract statements may make us feel like we’re right; in fact, they can actually make us be right.

But we cannot prefer to be right over being efficient.

And being efficient doesn’t mean doing things perfectly every time. Being efficient has more to do with movement than with the result of that movement.

The only thing needed is to be consistent with the direction: the proof that something is truly good is that it is not only good for us, but also for others.

We need to hear more of the noise of collaboration between human beings, of things getting underway, of overcoming ideologies and social classes in order to embark on shared journeys, both serious and fun.
